Abstract:  THE “FORNACIAI” UNIVERSITY AND THE REPRODUCTION OF “LATERIZI” IN ROME 1500-1700 The growth of production costs, the intermittent supply of firewood and the fact that some ecclesiastical bodies had started their own large scale production of bricks were some of the factor that were to bring great changes to the guild of Roman kilnmen over a period of nearly two centuries.
