Abstract: The essay examines the arguments put forward by the Spanish Dominican Friar Tomas de Lemos in favor of Thomism into de auxiliis Congregations. By transforming the cause of Thomism in that of Saint Augustin, Lemos definitely tried to discredit the positions of Molinism. At the same time the theses defended by Lemos in the presence of Pope Paul V on November 22, 1605 were likely milestones for future discussions: it meant being able to say that the Roman magisterium had finally recognized the orthodox Augustinism of the teachings of the school of St. Thomas in material gratiae et praedestinationis.
