Abstract:  The author wishes to highlight the varying developments resulting from the elaboration of the Ostiense-Marconi plan by the Rome City Administration. Three separate interpretations can be distinguished concerning the architectonic restoration of phenomena of industrial archaeology. An emphasis is placed on the poor execution of a city plan which had been developed as a systematic and coherent assessment for the rehabilitation of abandoned industrial buildings. The program was carried out in a disjointed fashion through architectural restoration projects which were not in keeping with the historic and documentary value of the urban fabric and building context.
