Abstract: The so-called Valle dell’Inferno (Hell Valley) represents, even in the name, the social, political,
morphological and technological contradictions and transformations in Rome, where the problems
of modernization mark its contemporary look. The New Rome, at the foot of the Vatican, was
growing as a secular alternative – almost a petrified provocation – trying to show the potential of a
new era. Images and urban models that have tried to solve the problems of growth and representativeness
giving form and structure to one of the most significant urban areas of the entire Roman context.
Keywords: Real Estate Market; Finance and Politics; Technology and Kilns; Urban and Architectural Dimension; Papal Rome and Liberal Rome
