Abstract: The so-called Valle dell’Inferno (Hell Valley) represents, even in the name, the social, political, morphological and technological contradictions and transformations in Rome, where the problems of modernization mark its contemporary look. The New Rome, at the foot of the Vatican, was growing as a secular alternative – almost a petrified provocation – trying to show the potential of a new era. Images and urban models that have tried to solve the problems of growth and representativeness giving form and structure to one of the most significant urban areas of the entire Roman context.
