Articoli

Abstract: The essay examines a vast body of archival documents used for analizing the urban development and the building transformations of the area included between Trionfale District and the slope of Monte Mario. The study focuses the period from 1880 to 1946 and starts from the analysis of the brick factories setting up the industrial area of Valle dell’Inferno only to then investigates the urbanization process of Monte Mario realised through the construction of the villini. It then became clear that the change of the social composition of the population occurred together with the mutation of the types of building. The study of the Master Plan preserved in the Archivio Storico Capitolino shows that the urbanistic transformation made the pleasant places of the Hill no longer recognizable in just over 50 years.
