Abstract: The research reconstructs historical excursus of the ski resort of Campo Imperatore, on the west side of the Gran Sasso mountain, using unknown sources like the archives of the Azienda Municipalizzata Centro Turistico Gran Sasso, that has managed the station from its origins. The event focus on more wide problematic about development of the winter tourism in Abruzzo and in Italy and the numerous attempts of tourist valorization of the Gran Sasso, many times over undertaken and almost never realized.
