Abstract: In the test were examined defensive strategies implemented by the French in the early ’800 to defend Neapolitan capital beginning from the «porte del regno», the islands of Ischia and Procida important pawns at the entrance of the Baja’s gulf, to deter possible hostile invasions, up to Castellammare and to Capri, to long contended by the British during the first decade of the 19th century.
The capital’s defence concentrated in the «dorsale difensiva» identified by the soldiers, was entrusted to new stationings allocated in the disused monasteries between Castel Sant’Elmo and the Castel dell’Ovo that with the Ramaglietto had again taken the strategic importance in the Naple’s Gulf.
