Abstract: In this interview, Maurice Aymard and Paola Lanaro trace the historical debate and the interrelations between economic history and building sector during the last century. Starting from the point of view of Fernand Braudel and Gino Luzzatto, the authors revalue the relevance of these historiographic lessons, especially facing to the contemporary economic cycles. They give also a balance of this area of studies and they identify urgent fields of researches, as the history of popular buildings and the birth of new ways of urban live, as the condominium during the 19th and 20th century.
